Delhi capitals are suddenly in a position to win today’s game to make their qualification process easy. During the initial stages, everyone has thought that qualifying for playoffs will be the cakewalk for them. There were unstoppable and were in kind of form that the opponent team would hate to play against them. Suddenly everything is going away from them and back to back four defeats has hurt them badly. Today’s match is going to be the yet another interesting game because both RCB and DC are in a similar position to qualify for playoffs. Delhi capitals are the team with the right mix of youth and experience and they have played as a unit which helped them to top the table last week before. Suddenly cracks started widening and all of the sudden players losing the form has hurt them badly. Pitches started slowing down and their batsmen’s inability to adapt to the conditions is also costing them badly. They need to pull off the victory that will help them to regain their confidence while moving forward for playoffs. Shikhar Dhawan has hit two back-to-back centuries but last two games he fell for a duck. Their captain Shreyas Iyer is getting starts but his inability to convert them into big scores is putting too much pressure on out of form lower-order batsmen. He needs to play an anchor role that will help his side to take the game deep and laid a strong foundation for lower-order batsmen to come and express themselves. Marcus Stonis seem to be in good nick but he is throwing his wickets away cheaply. He might be promoted up the order where he enjoys much success in big bash league.
RCB on another hand is overreliant on Kohli and Devilliers. Devdutt Padikkal is doing a fine job at top order but he lacks support from another end. He also needs to improve his strike rate, especially in middle overs. Like DC, Royal challengers Bangalore are also facing similar kinds of issues. Their captain Virat Kohli is inconsistent and he needs to play the anchor role and take the game deep. This will help their lower-order batsmen like Shivam Dubey and Chris Morris to come and express themselves. Also, morris is batting pretty down the order. He needs to bat at least at no.6 which will allow him to settle down. Spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar are doing a commendable job with the ball during powerplay and middle overs. Pacers Siraj and Saini are inconsistent and constantly bowling lose deliveries that allow the opponent batsmen to settle over without many hurdles. They need to tighten their line and lengths and Chris morris has taken wickets in powerplays but now he seems to have lost his rhythm. He too is joining with Siraj and Saini and bowling loose deliveries especially at the death overs. Aaron finch might be back into playing XI and it’s high time for Kohli to drop Gurkeerat and bring Parthiv back into the side. He will provide opening and wicketkeeping option and he can even bat in the middle overs as well.
Expected Playing XI:
1 Shikhar Dhawan, 2 Prithvi Shaw, 3 Shreyas Iyer (capt), 4 Rishabh Pant (wk), 5 Shimron Hetmyer, 6 Marcus Stoinis, 7 Axar Patel, 8 R Ashwin, 9 Kagiso Rabada, 10 Anrich Nortje, 11 Pravin Dubey
1 Devdutt Padikkal, 2 Josh Philippe (wk), 3 Virat Kohli (capt), 4 AB de Villiers, 5 Shivam Dube, 6 Chris Morris, 7 Gurkeerat Singh, 8 Washington Sundar, 9 Navdeep Saini, 10 Mohammed Siraj, 11 Yuzvendra Chahal
What to expect:
RCB has got the players who can play seam bowling very well. So you can expect DC bringing Axar Patel into the playing XI for the expense of Harshal Patel.
Rishabh Pant will be expected to turn into natural avatar today. Because he has played more responsibly this season and ended up with low scores. So it’s high time for him to play his natural game.
RCB might persist with Isuru Udana to solve their death bowling issues.
You can expect both the teams to adapt to the conditions and start playing more responsibly. It will help them to take the game deep. Both the teams will be trying hard for the victory which makes the game more interesting.
