It prompts Alex Carey and Ajinkya Rahane getting chances in the playing XI and force hard-hitting Shimron Hetmyer warm in benches. So it is bit affecting their team combination which was evident in their last game against MI. but Alex Carey is the capable replacement for Rishabh Pant and regularly bats at no.6 for Australia but he is yet to prove his mantle in T20 cricket. In BBL he used to open the innings for his franchise. So we have to wait and watch how he is doing justice to the role of finisher. At the same time inclusion of Ajinkya Rahane has prompted their captain Shreyas Iyer to bat at No.4 and it will provide much-needed stability to their batting order. Absence of Ishant Sharma might not hut their bowling combination as South African duo Kagiso Rabada and Anritch Nortje are doing their job well and are getting ample assistance from Harshal Patel and Marcus Stonis.
RR on another hand is back on track with a stunning victory over SRH in their last game. Besides this, they have also enjoyed the much-needed break of four days. Stokes inclusion didn’t provide enough dividends but the world-class all-rounder will make an impact in coming matches for Rajasthan Royals. Finally, Jaydev Unadket comes good for royals which is a real positive sign. With him and Karthik Tyagi who is getting wickets in powerplay are peaking at the right time which is a good sign. Jofra Archer and stokes are expected to do their job with so now the franchise is finding the balance in their playing XI. Rahul Dewatia is in top-notch form and he is instrumental in two historical wins for royals. His hard-hitting abilities coupled with slow leg-spin is an asset for any team. Riyan Parag has played a more matured innings in their last game and Robin Uthappa might replace Yashasvi Jaiswal in their playing XI. Consistency is the point of concern for Rajasthan royals and their inability to play as a unit is also costing them badly. If they overcome this they can be the team to watch out for this tournament. Sanju Samson’s form is also causing troubles as the wicket-keeper batsmen have struck two fifties in his first two games and later couldn’t find his groove. Teams have identified his weakness in facing short of deliveries and he needs to sort it as early as possible to bloom his cricket career.
Expected playing XI:
1 Prithvi Shaw, 2 Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Ajinkya Rahane, 4 Shreyas Iyer (capt), 5 Marcus Stoinis, 6 Alex Carey (wk), 7 Harshal Patel, 8 Axar Patel, 9 R Ashwin, 10 Kagiso Rabada 11 Anrich Nortje
1 Jos Buttler (wk), 2 Ben Stokes, 3 Steven Smith (capt), 4 Sanju Samson, 5 Robin Uthappa/Yashasvi Jaiswal, 6 Riyan Parag, 7 Rahul Tewatia, 8 Jofra Archer, 9 Shreyas Gopal, 10 Kartik Tyagi, 11 Jaydev Unadkat
What to expect:
DC’s spinners are also the major reason for their success so far with Amit Mishra injured Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin are doing a decent job. But they might be tempted to bring Sandeep Lamichchane in their playing XI who can provide more variety.
Shreyas Gopal is holding a fabulous record against DC top order so he might bowl in powerplay today. With Dewatia doing well at middle overs smith might use this strategy to take early wickets.
