17th match of the ongoing big bash league will be between two teams who are struggling to get the right rhythm and are pondering in the bottom of the points table. Perth Scorchers will be taking on Adelaide Strikers at Adelaide oval today. So far it has been an average season for Adelaide Strikers with two wins from four games. Their regular captain Travis Head is on national duty the strikers have managed to put some decent performance. Thanks to Daniel Worrall and Peter Siddle who are the go-to men with the ball when the team requires. Their main batsmen Phil Salt and Matt Renshaw still not finding the right form strikers will be looking for a much-improved performance from them. Their lead spinner Rashid Khan is suffering from minor niggle and his availability is not confirmed yet by the team management. The best part for them is they are back to their home ground which can provide a much-needed boost.
Meanwhile, Perth Scorchers on another hand are still without a win despite having a strong bowling unit. But with the availability of their leading stars Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone makes their batting stronger and they are looking like a different outfit now. Ashton Turner and Mitchell marsh are in decent form with the bat so you can expect a much-improved performance from them today. They have got the best bowling line-up in BBL and their batting let them down on many occasions. With the inclusion of Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone, their batting looks more solid. They will be eyeing hard for the victory which will boost their confidence and will take them forward in the tournament.
Players to watch out for:
Last year has been the wonderful year for Jason Roy as he emerged as one of the swashbuckling openers in the international arena. He has continued that form in last season of the big bash and has made a tremendous impact with the bat. This year you can witness a dip in form and he has also struggled from injury which made him to pull-out of IPL. So he has got the point to prove in this season of BBL. So you can expect him to utilize this opportunity and regain his lost form.
Captain Alex Carey was unavailable for selection during their last game. He doesn’t make much impact with bat till now. So he will be looking to exploit the batting conditions to regain his lost touch. A strong performance from him will take Adelaide strikers to cross the victory margin with ease.
Expected playing XI:
Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone, Colin Munro, Ashton Turner (C), Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis (WK), Jhye Richardson, Aaron Hardie, Fawad Ahmed, Jason Behrendroff and Andrew Tye.
Jake Weatherald, Phil Salt, Matt Renshaw, Alex Carey (C&WK), Jono Wells, Matt Short, Rashid Khan/Harry Conway, Daniel Worrall, Wes Agar, Peter Siddle and Danny Briggs.
A decent batting track is expected at Adelaide oval that offers little movement for seamers. As the innings progress, you can expect the spinners to play a role. Both the teams have decent firepower so 170 can be a decent total.
Considering the team combination and recent form you can expect Adelaide strikers to come good today as they are enjoying the home advantage. But Perth Scorchers looks the different team after the inclusion of Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone. So you can expect a nail-biting encounter today.
